Joyful Productivty Tracker FAQs and Tips

Welcome to your Joyful Productivity Tracker!

Common questions about the Joyful Productivity Tracker system include:

The Everything Page

It all starts with the “Everything” Page of your Tracker. Step 1 includes getting everything you’re trying to track in your head onto the page. Frequent questions I hear are:

Categorizing Page

Before going into the specifics of how I like to use each of the different categories, I’d like to answer a few questions about the importance and general use of this step in your Tracking process:

Category: “Do First”

This is the most prominent section of the categorizing page. Your eye falls here first most naturally. Different people adopt different strategies to use this space most effectively to keep them motivated and focused. Questions to consider include:

Category: “Do Next”

These are your second-tier priorities. Many people find it overwhelming to revisit their entire “everything” page after finishing their top priorities from the “Do First” list. This space can be useful to prevent that anxiety. Other considerations for this space are:

Category: “Flash Tasks”

Honestly, these are my favorite. This category is meant for little tasks that take no preparation and practically no time. A general rule of thumb that I use is it should take no more than 3 minutes to complete, start-to-finish. Ideas about when and how to use Flash Tasks to boost your sense of productivity and accomplishment are:

Category: “Bursts”

Depending on which version of the JPT you own, this section might be called “5-minute Bursts”. The intent for this section is the same regardless. It was originally designed for tasks that you might be avoiding because to compelte it from start to finish would take a big block of time, but realistically, you can just as easily get some momentum and work on it in “chunks”. 5- minutes here and there every day or so for a week will get you the same results as spending an hour or two all at once.

Category: Blanks/ Customizable

These two customizable categories can be used in a number of ways. Read more ideas that I suggest and some that I’ve learned from other JPT users!

Category: “Waiting”

Honestly, this is maybe one of the most transformative segments of the entire Tracker (second only to the brain dump value of the “Everything” page!)
